Last Tuesday Dinners

The LTD History

The Last Tuesday Dinners were originally created as a celebration of life for those individuals living with HIV/AIDS. A regular opportunity to enjoy an evening of good food and fellowship at the Jesuit Urban Center, housed in the historic Church of the Immaculate Conception in Boston's South End. The Last Tuesday Dinners were started in the late 1980's by a small group of volunteers and a Jesuit priest who didn't want to provide "just a meal" for people, but wanted to provide an elegant atmosphere for them to enjoy the dinner, find support and companionship, and know that they were not alone.

The Dinners

Described by many as "fine dining under the stars," the dinner usually takes place on the last Tuesday of the month. The evening begins with a social at 6:30 p.m. during which guests gather to share light hors d'oeuvres, non-alcoholic punch, music and conversation. Dinner follows at approximately 7:15 p.m. Our guests are served by a dedicated crew of volunteers who are committed to making the dinner a wonderful experience.

Reservations for Last Tuesday Dinners are required and accepted beginning two weeks prior to the dinner. Those making the reservation are invited to bring one guest: parent, spouse, partner, child, friend, etc.

The deadline for reservations is 4 p.m. the previous Friday.

Please phone in advance to make a reservation for the dinner and speak with the receptionist, or leave a message at Ext. 361.
